Nothing is more thrilling, captivating, engaging, or pulsing for adventure seekers than trekking. And when there are some difficult high-altitude excursions to complete, the enjoyment ultimately doubles. The high-altitude treks offer the chance to view unique landscapes around the world, with gorgeous meadows being a common feature. There are several hilly ranges in the world where you may expect such similar features, but the Indian Himalayas Region is where the majority of trekkers find comfort.
The Indian Himalayas Region is the pinnacle of nature’s grandeur, offering a variety of high-altitude trekking trails. Home to some sky-touching snow-capped glaciated peaks and a vibrant mosaic of peoples and cultures. Some of which even reach 5960 metres.

Chadar Trek, Ladakh
This is not just the best high-altitude trek, but it is also a well-known winter trek. But why is it called Chadar? Is it a place? The river turns into a blanket during the winter, or chadar in Hindi, and you have to walk on it. This is how it got its name. The fact that the temperature is still about -20 degrees Celsius adds to the suspense. Doesn’t that seem exciting?
The trekking trip starts from the Chilling village and continues through Zaribago, Deepyokma, Nyarak Settlement, Nyarakpulu, and finally a little village named Lingshed. Continue your trip from Lingshed to Tso Mopoaldar through Nyarakpulu and then to Chilling via Tilatdo.
- Route: Chilling-Zaribago-Deepyokma
- Altitude: 3850 m (12631.2 ft)
- Duration: 9 to 12 days
Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur Kailash Circuit Trek
The Kinnaur Kailash Circuit Trek is a great option for a spiritual vacation in Himachal Pradesh because it takes you to the winter residence of Lord Shiva. Legend has it that Lord Shiva used to arrange for the assembly of all gods and goddesses to take place here every January.
This 11-day trip begins at Thangi, a village near Chail, continues via picturesque Charang Village, over the high mountain pass of Charang La, which is located at an elevation of 17,200 feet above sea level, and then travels through Chitkul, Tabo, and Losar before arriving in Manali. The 79-foot-tall and 30- to 40-foot-wide Kinner Kailash Shivling is the trek’s primary focal point.
Stok Kangri Trek, Ladakh
This journey promises to put your stamina to the test on a regular basis in addition to taking you to high altitudes (literally). The Stok Kangri Trek is one of the more difficult treks in Ladakh. It requires not only trekking but also climbing, steep trekking through difficult snow patches, and mountain trekking, in other words, everything that can be nerve-wracking.
This challenging trek starts in Sumdo and travels to Shang La through Shang Phu, where you might observe wolves. You will next descend to the Tokpo Rivera and travel to Matho La via Gangpoche. Then proceed to a ridge for the breathtaking view of Saltoro Kangri.
Best Period or Season
In Nepal, the months of October and November are the busiest for trekking to the Annapurna Base Camp. Clear views of the mountain peaks and a magnificent night sky frequently alleviate this. However, April to May is also regarded as an excellent period to plan your vacation to ABC because snow is starting to melt and haze is only evident at lower altitudes. May is a warm month with less visitor activity.
Location
Nepal is home to the renowned Annapurna base camp. The Annapurna region may be accessible from Kathmandu through Pokhara. To reach the Annapurna Massif, where you will be awed by the breathtaking grandeur of Nepal, you will travel through the forests and alongside rice terraces of the Annapurna Conservation Area.
Great Lakes Trek in Kashmir

This walk is made much more fascinating by the five stunning lakes that follow one another. With its unspoiled splendor, this beautifully taxing walk will provide you with sweet experiences.
The mountains covered with snow are also a fantastic visual treat. You may occasionally see delicate cotton clouds meandering over the picturesque mountain peaks and wildflowers illuminating your path. On your trip to the Kashmir Lakes, you will cross the Nichnai rivers, travel through the tunnels, and traverse Shekdar woods.
Maximum Altitude
13,750 feet above sea level as the highest point.
