It is also important to note that mildew and mold could lead to certain health issues like people may start suffering as respiratory issues or asthma due to mold.

Other Liquids

Some other liquids are also hard to deal with, they include milk, wine, and soft drinks, they leave nasty smells on the carpets, and these smells become worse if you are not treating them timely.

Pets

Pets also are the reason for wet carpets, if they are not properly trained; they are going to create a lot of problems for you. They may vomit or saliva on the carpets or urinate on the carpets. These things create very nasty bacteria which are important to treat because they lead to dirty stinks as well on the carpets.

How to Dry the Carpets?

Dry them Outside in the Sunlight

If the rugs or carpets in your home are wet, they will create a strong and pungent smell. The first thing to do is take them outside; they would easily dry if the sun is out. The growth of the mold is also discouraged if they are placed directly under sunlight. The smells also stay away from the carpets due to the sunlight. Try Baking Soda for Removing the Smell

When the carpets are completely dry, you can use baking soda for deodorizing and disinfecting the carpet. Baking soda is often recommended as a cleaning solution for different things in our homes. It is very effective; it can absorb the smells and the moisture from the carpets.

You should apply a little amount of baking soda to the affected area of the carpet and leave it for around 48 hours. The baking soda needs some time to clean your carpets. If baking soda is not giving results, you can combine it with vinegar as well, this chemical reaction is very potent and would help you wet the carpet and remove all the smells from it.

Cleaning Solution

If the baking soda and the vinegar are not giving the desired results, you can use a cleaning solution. Find out a perfect cleaning product or get help from wet carpet drying services. If you are trying the cleaning product at your home, test it on a small portion of the carpet before using it on the whole carpet.

Vacuuming

Lastly, you need to vacuum out the residue of the baking soda or the cleaning product. Make sure that you wait for 48 hours before vacuuming the carpet.
